Topic :  The Responsibility of Sonship

John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (KJV)

Most people do not understand the responsibility of sonship. One of the biggest challenges in Africa, because of poverty and high rates of child headed homes; many Christians can not relate to biblical wisdom on inheritance. This is why they struggle to grow in the things of God. One minute a person is beaming with godly charisma, next minute they plunder into confusion and consequently back to a carnal life.

The verse teaches us that God gave us authority to be HIS SONS. Notice that the word  authority there signifies right. Which means that we can not beg to be his children anymore; we cannot ask if we are part of his promises anymore. This mind changes a lot in your serving God if you truly understand it.

A true son considers himself part of the family, not an intruder.

Child of God, you are coheirs with Christ, which means that you have the keys to the kingdom of God. No man under the sun can ever take away your true inheritance. This is powerful. This is why Christianity becomes a very exciting experience when you understand your place as a son.
