Luke 15:17 “And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!” (KJV)

One of the characteristics of a slave mentality is to desire to have everything for yourself. The desire to have your own car, house, lands, business, be your own boss. Most times, this mentality is actually slavery. Today, we look at two son; one who asks for his portion and another who serves his father and never requires substance of his own.

The verse shows us a man who after he had taken his inheritance from his father spent it on riotous living until he begun to be in want. Then did wisdom come that he desired to be a servant in his father’s house. Notice, he left as a son, he returned as a slave.

Until a man is at home with what is not his, he cannot fully own what belongs to him.

Sons build for legacy, slaves seek personal gratification. Sons build as family, slaves work for wages.
