THE CHURCH II

April 30, 2024

Topic :  The Pride of the Apostolic vs The Flashiness of the Prophetic

Ephesians 2:20 “And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;” (KJV)

When God was building his church, his mind was to predicate it upon the apostles and prophets because he knew these two gifts are strong enough to hold the church together; as the five fold ministry perfects that which has been gathered. However, of recent times, the two foundational gifts have found themselves clashing in an interesting turn of events.

The verse shows us that these foundational gifts ought to be in perfect synchrony for them to form a formidable foundation of the body. The prophets have gone flashy and fancy, the apostles have become prideful in their tongue and the church has become a shell of what it used to be. But the scripture asks, what will the righteous do, if the foundations be destroyed?

We will see power the day we get these two foundational gifts on the same platform without insecurities.

The eloquence of words and beauty of the gift both cannot achieve the purpose of God by and in themselves in isolation. However, God is raising a generation stronger and wiser; a hybrid of men who have been trained in the hiding. Men whom God has dealt with to advance the purposes of the kingdom.
