Topic : Guarding The Altar of Your Heart
One of the greatest tests of Christian maturity is to guard the altar of one’s heart. The Bible calls us the temple of God, and our hearts serve as the altar of that temple. The Bible says all the issues of life begin in our hearts. This is the difference between a man who distinguishes himself in this life and one who leads an average life.
The verse shows us Jesus warning his disciples against the leaven of the Pharisees. Having taught them he knew his message could be corrupted if one mixed it with the teaching of the Pharisees. If Jesus could warn his own disciples against the Pharisees; how much more should the believer now take heed of the leaven of Herod/Media?
No man has ever mixed multiple doctrines and made progress. Progress in spiritual things is found in committing to a particular teacher.
A man’s altar is defiled when he allows every sacrifice to be put on it. This is why ministries which seem to invite thousands of different ministers have ended up destroying their own altars.
