Jonah 2:8 “They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.” (KJV)

When God is anointing a man, the first thing that he deals with, about him, is his heart. God circumcises a man’s heart before he assigns him. This is crucial because we see according to the covenant of our hearts. Most people make the mistake of thinking the physical eyes are the only organs responsible for sight. But the heart too has eyes and these can determine the experience of a man.

This is why the verse speaks of a certain kind of mercy that comes by reason of sight. You have heard of men who say my parents are bad people. You want to ask them; by which eyes did you see your parents in that light? This shows you that if you learn the wisdom of seeing, you will attract a kind of mercy and grace that many people may never be able to access.

God's mercy is activated by the sight of a man’s heart.

Therefore, those who are mature in God; they see not according the reality of life, but to the wisdom of their hearts.
