Romans 12:11 “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;” (KJV)

One time, God, in a vision lifted me from the earth and showed me how the world is lit, not with electricity but rather with the light that is emitted from those who believed. The more fervent a man was, the more light he gave to the world. I saw many families without light in them. This vision shook me until God taught me through his word how to grow my light.

The verse shows us that we ought to be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. Passiveness in the work of God is what has caused many people’s light to dim. A man cannot preach as he ought to, one cannot give as he ought to, one cannot love as he ought to; so his light remains low.

In God, the level of dedication to him, determines the level of maturity in him.

Oh how God longs to use men but scarcely are they available. Oh how God longs to open men’s doors, but they shut their own doors. Oh how God has longed to multiply men but they refused to multiply his altar.
